THE fun has started thenthe much-needed Heysham-M6 link road given the green light - and within a month someone makes an appeal into the legality of the decision.
Great. You can't beat it with a big stick. The area is crying out for a link road.
Would anyone seriously consider a day out in Morecambe when the grind of traffic is slowed further by the road works on the main route? No they wouldn't.
Morecambe is a resort which is just beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel after too many dark days. The future is good and people are starting to cotton on to the fact.
The Midland Hotel renovation is earning national recognition and other exciting developments are on the way that will make the town a place to be proud of once more.
But, then again, I can see it becoming a town without people unless the road is built so it doesn't need some bunny-hugging lentil eater to start stirring up trouble.
Okay, some people don't want a road - but some people would like to see everything transported by push bike. You could say that if some people's brains were made of dynamite they wouldn't have enough to blow their caps off.
I, for one, hope that this appeal is thrown out and common sense prevails.
Get over it people. The powers-that-be believe that we need the road and it has been passed. The only people who can't see it are the usual suspects who would protest against the opening of an envelope, given half a chance, and those who don't fancy the idea of it being built close to their homes.
Even I have a certain amount of sympathy with the latter group - but not enough to make me change my mind. So let's just get it on
