A TAKEAWAY could be on its way to Accrington if plans to change a vacant shop are approved.

If the application by Mohammed Uzair Farooq is granted the new takeaway in Ormerod Street would serve breakfast and dinner throughout the day.

The takeaway would be based at the former Lasani Fabric store which has been empty since 2016.

Planning documents said the shop was ideal for a takeaway.

They read: "The shop is situated predominantly in a residential area with retail shops and takeaways.

"The last use of the shop was a retail clothing shop.

"The shop is currently vacant.

"The shop premises are ideal for restaurant/ fast food takeaway as it is in a mixed-use area

comprising mainly residential and commercial uses."

The proposed takeaway will be open from 7am to 2pm breakfast and dinner and from 3pm to 11pm during the week and 1pm at weekends.

The documents added: "The proposal will have a positive impact on the vitality and viability of this local area providing a specialised service.

"The proposed use is an acceptable use within the policies and provides an acceptable use within the borough within this sustainable and accessible location.

"The proposed use will not only contribute to the vitality of the area it will not cause harm through intensification of traffic or cause nuisance for local residents."
