A MAN who grabbed his partner by the throat claimed he was reacting to her pushing him as he walked down the stairs.
Blackburn magistrates heard Daniel Martin Haigh accepted that he had overstepped the mark and that the relationship was now over.
Haigh, 31, of The Crescent, Colne, pleaded guilty to assault and failing to comply with bail conditions. He was made subject to a community order for six months with 10 days rehabilitation activity requirement, fined £100 and ordered to pay £100 compensation, £85 costs and £85 victim surcharge.
Richard Prew, defending, said his client had no wish to reconcile with the complainant.
"He just wants to see his son and that was the motivation for him going round there in breach of his bail," said Mr Prew.
