THE Duchy of Lancaster has confirmed it is in discussions with the L and K Group, which owns the Lancaster auction mart site, regarding relocation to a facility on the new Duke of Lancaster Park site at Myerscough.
Any proposals will be subject to the approval of shareholders and are dependent on the Duchy's redevelopment proposals for the wider site being granted planning permission.
L and K also operates the Kendal Auction Mart and representatives from Brock auction mart are also involved in the discussions.
In a statement the Duchy of Lancaster says: "We believe that such a move would present an excellent centralised rural hub' for the region's farming community and would provide support for the mart system.
"The concept is intended to provide a centre of excellence, which could help to shape the face of agriculture in the North West for generations to come."
