SPRING into Action, which helps provide inclusive activities for people with disabilities, has been awarded £8,000 to fund projects.

The money has come from the East Lancashire Clinical Commissioning Group and the Tesco Bags of Help scheme.

The money has contributed to launching a personal training project, which will offer group and one to one training sessions for people aged 16 and over who have a learning disability, autism or a mental health issue.

The cash means Spring into Action can offer a paid position to one of its volunteers, Amanda Shepherd, who has been giving their time up to the sports club in Accrington for the past two years, as well as contribute towards the costs of running the club.

Lucy Hamlin, director of Spring into Action, said: "We are delighted to have received these grants which will help us to work with more people with learning disabilities across Hyndburn and Ribble Valley.

"We were at risk of closing down at Christmas, so you can imagine how grateful we are to Tesco shoppers who have enabled us to continue running well into next year.

"We are also so excited to launch our new personal training project in the Ribble Valley thanks to the funding from the commissioning group.
