A GREAT grandma from Blackburn scooped £10,000 on the East Lancashire Hospice lottery four weeks after joining.

Ann Crump, 72, said she was speechless after winning the rollover.

Ann was formerly playground assistant at St Peter’s RC Primary School, Blackburn.

She said: “I didn’t believe it when Gill from the hospice told me I’d won the jackpot.

"It was so surreal. I’ve only just calmed down. I have never won anything, and it goes to show that it really could be anyone who wins.

“I was so shocked when I got the call. They told me there was no rush coming in to pick up the cheque – but I was there within 10 minutes. I had to see the cheque to believe it was real.”

Ann signed up to the subscription after a lottery canvasser visited her home last month.

She said a family member was cared for at the hospice and received the care and support of the staff.

Ann retired from her job as a playground assistant at St Peter’s RC Primary School in Blackburn two years ago.

She said she doesn’t know what she and husband Fred will spend the money on – but admits it will be a big financial help.
