A DESSERT cafe showed off its 'heavenly' new waitress – as a mayor served up the first sweet treats at the new venue.

Blackburn with Darwen Mayor Cllr Pat McFall surprised diners at the new Heavenly Desserts restaurant as she switched jobs for the day.

Her visit marks the next phase in the growth of Heavenly Desserts across the UK with the launch of the new store bringing its luxury artisan waffles, pancakes, cakes and slices to Blackburn for the first time.

As well as serving the first desserts, Councillor McFall was also given an opportunity to learn some of the artisan dessert making skills that have given Heavenly Desserts the reputation of being one of the best luxury dessert venues in the country.

Cllr McFall said: “The team at Heavenly Desserts put so much care and dedication into everything they do as they create art on a plate.

"I think they’re as much artists as they are skilled at creating delicious desserts.”

The new luxury dessert venue which opened today marks yet another phase in the growth of Blackburn’s business community.

Cllr McFall added: “I’m delighted to see Heavenly Desserts come to the area and add something new to the local business environment. The fact that they are open into the evening brings a twist to the growing cafe culture in the area.”

Yousif Aslam, Heavenly Desserts managing director, added: “We are proud of the desserts and the experience we have created, however, our ultimate mission is to make every guest in Blackburn leave with a smile – and nothing would give us more pride and satisfaction that doing just that.”

Heavenly Desserts has brought more than 20 new jobs to Blackburn.
