TRANSPORT police officers were called a false alarm concerning a smoking suitcase next to a train station yesterday.
British Transport Police were called to reports of smoke coming from a suitcase located in the bushes near Darwen Station yesterday morning.
Despite the concerns, officers found the case was not burning and instead water had evaporated onto the case in the morning sun.
A police spokesman said: "Following a report of a suitcase coming from it in bushes next to the station, officers attended the location.
"They found an old, empty, and wet case, gently seaming in the morning sunshine as the water evaporated."
