A CHARITY which supports women's emotional health has been awarded a £329,000 grant.

The Big Lottery Fund money will support a four-year scheme developed by the Lancashire Women's Centre (LWC) to improve the health and wellbeing of women.

Launching in September 2018, the National Lottery funded project will enable LWC to deliver counselling support, training courses on wellbeing and relationships and support the development of peer led activities.

The female-only centres provide support and help women build confidence, self esteem and relationships with others.

Kathryn Malley, of LWC said: "It has come at a really good time and the grant will benefit lots of girls and women.

James Harcourt, England grant-making director at the Big Lottery Fund, said: "Thanks to National Lottery players, we’re able to fund fantastic projects like the Lancashire Women’s Centre, which is making such a difference to local women and girls."
