ONE of the summer's biggest events is set to return to Salesbury Hall this weekend and the sunshine may just stick around to entice even more people than ever through the doors.

The Royal Lancashire show starts on Friday 20 until Sunday 22, with organisers promising the event will be bigger and better than ever before.

Last year, crowds in excess of 15,000 attended the three day event and comments following the show indicated that everybody in attendance had a fantastic time.

And things are only set to get better this year as the line up for displays, exhibitions and demonstrations look bigger and better than ever before.

The attractions for 2018 include bird of prey displays, performances from the Accrington Pipe Band, demonstrations by celebrity chefs, donkey rides, livestock displays and even a Shetland pony Grand Prix.

Also included in the jam-packed programme of events will an appearance by the famous Red Devil Army Team, who are set to parachute in to the show ground on the first day.

Chairman of the Royal Lancashire Show, Colin Mustoe said: “The team is very excited as the show this year is going to be bigger and better than last year, with many more attractions for the family and a much higher agricultural and livestock content.”

Organisers have also promised that the livestock section has increased significantly, with cattle, sheep, goats, poultry, horses and alpacas all making appearances.

New additions this year also include the introduction of a Ladies Marquee and free entry for kids in to the children’s village where there will be various activities aimed at keeping younger visitors occupied.

Friday will be ladies day with fashion shows and other presentations taking place, with an array of stalls selling clothing and jewellery on offer.

Organisers of the event said: “The Royal Lancashire Show is going from strength to strength and is a fantastic day out for all the family.”

The weather is set to stay fair and warm for the event, with little rain predicted for over the weekend.

Temperatures are expected to range from 20- 22 degrees, with sunny spells.
