A SCHOOL has been praised by inspectors.
Avondale Primary School in Darwen was visited by Ofsted in June and has received a 'good' rating.
A recently-issued report has acknowledged a number of key strengths.
These include the headteacher, senior leaders and governors having a clear understanding of the school’s strengths and weaknesses and pupils’ attitudes to school are positive.
The Durham Road school was adjudged to be 'good' for effectiveness of leadership and management and quality of teaching, learning and assessment.
It was also rated good for personal development, behaviour and welfare, outcome for pupils and early years provision.
The rating is an improvement from a previous inspection where the school was given a 'requires improvement' grading.
Inspectors said in a report: "The curriculum contributes to the good progress that pupils make in a range of subjects, including science, computing, music and physical education (PE).
"It promotes pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural understanding well. "
