A SAFETY rail above a brook has been repaired following concerns.
The barrier had fallen into a stream off Greenbank Terrace, Lower Darwen, sparking fears that a child playing nearby could fall and get 'seriously hurt'.
But the safety rail, which looks down on a ten foot vertical drop from the road onto rocks below, has now been fixed.
Walker Jean Kennedy, who made the discovery, said: "I am delighted to see that the safety barrier is being repaired. The school holidays will soon begin and that area is a magnet for youngsters.
"I hope a warning notice will also be erected.
"Children, especially young teenagers still need to be warned about the dangers of playing there.
"No one wants to spoil the children’s fun but removing a potential danger is surely the job of adults and part of their care."
