COUNCILLORS are to sleep rough to raise money for a veterans association and enable them to keep their office in the town.
Members of Hyndburn Labour Party will be sleeping overnight in Oak Hill Park in Accrington on Saturday, July 21, to raise money for Veterans Association UK.
Among those camping out in the park will be Cllr Glen Harrison, Cllr Paddy Short, Cllr Stewart Eaves and more.
The money will be used to help fund the cost of charity's office in Accrington market hall and to support vulnerable veterans in the area.
Veterans Association CEO Tony Hayes said: "We're very grateful for the group doing the sleep out, it will help keep us in Accrington.
"It's great to see them getting involved with fundraising, especially as we don't receive any funding to help us out."
Since coming to the area around five years Veterans Association UK has help house 36 veterans and provided mental health treatment to more than 200.
Cllr Harrison said: "The service they provide in Hyndburn is invaluable, they do fantastic work."
