A WIDOWER and his family have thanked people who helped them raise almost £1,000 in memory of his wife.
Since 2014, Alban Hall has taken part in Wear A Hat Day for Brain Tumour Research each year to raise money for the charity in memory of his wife, Beryl, who died in 2013 from the disease.
This year Mr Hall, 85, from Knuzden, donned a Second World War warden hat for the occasion and collected £965.
As well as setting up an online fundraising page, Mr Hall walked around Blackburn and Accrington town centre's with a collection bucket to raise money for charity.
To date he has raised around £7,000 for the charity, which he said is the only national charity dedicated to fund research into the disease which kills more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer.
His daughter Linda Tatlow said: "We just want to thank everyone for their donations.
"Everyone who gave anything big or small, we just can't thank them enough.
"It was great to get out and meet the people, we're very grateful."
