WE asked fed-up commuters what they thought of the current state of affairs on the railways.
Here's what they thought...
Emma Beatham, 23, Liverpool, said: “It’s a constant thing with cancellations, and I’m ending up turning up late for work, it could be leading to disciplinary action because the train company can’t do anything. It’s been about five to six weeks.”
Stella Roskell, 60, Poulton-Le-Fylde, said: “I’ve heard there have been many cancellations, so we haven’t bothered going by train now and use the car instead. They haven’t finished the lines either for Manchester. I would have used them more without problems.”
Julie-Anne Walton, from Blackburn, said: "It would be better firstly if all the train journeys were more direct because it’s more convenient that way. Also I was going to have a trip to Carnforth, but that’s now been delayed because of the chaos.”
David Knight, 34, from Nelson, said: "I’m going to be starting work again and using the trains so it’s going to be a regular thing for me. But before all this, I thought it was rubbish anyway, because the Sunday times were every two hours.
Shamim Rokadiya, 36, from Blackburn, said: “They need to get their act on and move quickly. If they say a specific time then they have to be here at that time. It needs to improve a lot. And people need to get to work on time.”
Andrew Melyneex, 33, Bolton, said: “The timetables have completely changed, but it’s been going on for a hell of a long time now and it’s always the same. There’s a lot of lies going round, but they need to start getting better on track.”
