There was a buzz in the air this weekend as East Lancashire celebrated World Bee Day.

Youngsters became busy bees as they visited Towneley Hall to take part in their Offshoots Permaculture Project where they took part in lots of activities.

These included learning the 'waggle dance', planting a wildflower seed to take home to help attract bees and learn about how bees pollinate, all while dressed as the yellow and white insect.

Gin fans were able to raise a glass to the furry beasts at Samlesbury Hall, which held a bee and honey gin festival.

The event included a craft fair, a barbecue at the heritage centre as well as the opportunity to try honey fudge, beeswax candles, buy hives and beekeeping equipment and more.
