X FACTOR star Grace Davies will be one of the main attractions at Darwen Live in May.

The free festival, held on the late May Bank Holiday, will see Comedy folk band The Lancashire Hotpots return to the festival at 8pm on the main stage on Sunday followed by 1980s teen idol Paul Young at 9pm.

Young has had a string of hits in the 1980s including "Love of the common people" which made it to number two in 1982.

On the Monday night, You Tube stars Angels N Bandits will warm up the crowd on the Monday at 1pm, with festival favourites Electro 80’s taking to the stage at 5.15pm.

Then the Langho singing star grace the stage on Monday night before former Cast lead singer John Power closes the festival on the main stage.

Organiser Darren James said the reaction to the lineup has been ‘really positive.’

He said: “I’m really please with the line up, I think we have something for everyone this year.

“We’ve got 80s favourites, up and coming You Tubers and X Factor stars.

“And we’ve had a really positive reaction from everyone on Facebook.

“Obviously we can’t please everyone, we had over 500 applications and the quality was amazing.

“It was really difficult to narrow them down, but we try to offer something you can’t see every week in our local venues.

“I’m looking forward to seeing all of them perform, there are a lot of acts I have not seen before.”

Mr James said organisers are now looking for volunteers to help out at the festival on the days.

He said: “We are always on the look out for volunteers. We need people to help with all elements of the festival, from looking after the acts back stage to helping set up the equipment.

“Anyone interested should get in touch through the Darwen Live Facebook page.”

The free-to-attend festival will run from May 27 to 28, with the main stage in Darwen town centre. For more information visit the Darwen Live Facebook page.
