THE British Heart Foundation has invited people in the North West to take part in a special ‘World Record’ attempt

The charity is calling on residents in the to visit one of 64 local BHF shops in the region.

There they will be asked to make a donation towards life-saving heart research and write a message on a ‘World Record’ heart.

This will be included in a Valentine’s Day attempt by the BHF to break the world record for the longest chain of paper hearts, currently 8,525.

The charity is hoping to break this record as a mark of solidarity for the seven million people in the UK suffering heart and circulatory disease, including 843,600 people in the North West.

The World Record hearts will be sold in BHF shops in the run-up to Valentine’s Day and sent to London where they will be strung together to create the giant chain.
