FIRE crews battled a kitchen fire.
Firefighters were called to the incident at a house in Marlborough Street, Burnley shortly after 1pm.
A fire service spokesman said the fire had been caused be a pan that had been left unattended.
The spokesman praised the occupier for 'doing the right thing' when they were alerted to the fire by a smoke alarm.
He said: "We were in attendance for around 45 minutes.
"The fire was caused by a pan that was left unattended but could have been a lot worse.
"The occupier did the right thing by calling fire crews as soon as the smoke alarm was activated and no one was injured."
