BLACKBURN singer Ryan North impressed on the opening episode of The Voice.

Music teacher Ryan sang alongside girlfriend Tania, 24, on the opening show of the ITV singing contest.

The pair, who sing under the name RYT, performed their own version of the JCB Song to new judging line-up Olly Murs, Jennifer Hudson, Tom Jones and will.i.am.

In the 'blind auditions', judges sit with their backs to the stage and must decide whether or not to push their button for each act.

Only then do they get to see the act, who can then choose which judge they would like as their mentor.

Three judges pushed their buttons for Ryan and Tania and they chose to go with Olly.

The pair met through a dating app and started singing together on their second date, when 31-year-old Ryan took Tania to an open mic night.

Ryan attended St Wilfred's Academy in Blackburn. The couple live in Richmond in London.
