A FUNDRAISER has been launched to open a community cafe.

The East Lancashire Community Cafe will serve cheap meals and invest all proceeds into affordable housing which will then be rented out to struggling families.

Project leader Michael Pope said he was inspired to launch the charity after seeing a story in the news about similar scheme launched by a bakery in Liverpool

He said: "Our aim is to open a community cafe where people can come for cheap meals whilst out shopping.

" All proceeds will go into buying cheap houses to rent out to struggling families who cant afford the high rents being charged out there.

"At the end of every day any surplus food will be giving free or charge with a cup of tea or coffee to the homeless or anyone who can't feed themselves that night."

Mr Pope has set up Just Giving page, with an aim to raising £10,000 to launch the cafe. Visit justgiving.com/crowdfunding/elccp to show your support.
