IT may have been taken over 90 years ago, but this photograph from the Lancashire Telegraph remains instantly recognisable to motorists.
It was taken as a new by-pass to the north of Blackburn neared completion in the 1920s creating a major road junction at Brownhill.
The white houses lining Brownhill Drive on the right of the photograph were part of the new housing estate built by the council which saw around 300 homes being constructed in the area.
At the bottom of Brownhill Drive you can clearly see the tram shelters lining the road.
The bottom shelter also housed a public telephone.
