THE year was 1967 and Haslingden was celebrating the opening of its new fire station.
This photograph from the Lancashire Telegraph archives shows the new building taken from the nearby park.
The finishing touches were being put to the fencing around the fire station which would house two appliances.
The large training tower on the right would allow firefighters to practice dealing with tricky situations in stairwells and high rise buildings.
