THIS extraordinary scene was captured by a Lancashire Telegraph photographer in 1979 following a major incident in the centre of Waddington.
A lorry crashed into a building in the centre causing massive damage to the premises. As police co-ordinated the operation, a heavy duty breakdown truck prepares to tow away the lorry with the fire brigade on stand-by.
The incident occurred in August during the school summer holidays and youngsters and residents from the village gathered to watch what was going on.
The amount of detail in the photograph makes it appear almost like a picture you would see on the box of a jigsaw puzzle.
