LANCASHIRE Telegraph editor Steve Thompson did his bit for Children in Need as he joined his radio counterparts to Pedal for Pudsey.

Steve joined up with Graham Liver and John Gillmore from BBC Radio Lancashire for the fourth leg on the specially-adapted bike which started in Blackburn and went through Accrington, Burnley, Brierfield and Nelson.

Graham and Gilly are attempting to pedal over 100 miles in a week in their PudseyMobile.

The challenge started on the morning of Friday, November 10 at the Ashton Memorial in Lancaster.

They will then travel across the whole county, visiting schools and businesses on the way along with Pudsey, finishing on Friday at Blackpool Tower.

Mr Thompson joined the hardy crew in Blackburn town centre and then helped power the PudseyMobile through East Lancashire.

Tomorrow, the PudseyMobile will head visit Colne, Padiham, Whalley and Clitheroe.

Presenter Graham said: “We do something daft for BBC Children in Need every year and this year we’ve decided to do a four man bike challenge riding all across Lancashire.

“Our listeners never let us down and everyone has been sop generous with their donations.

“The charity helps 44 projects across Lancashire to the tune of £3.5 million.

“This is my favourite week of the year because you see how kind and wonderful people are in this part of the world.”

Also joining Graham on the bike yesterday were singer Claire Sweeney and former Rovers star Kevin Gallagher.

Kevin said: “It was easy until we had to climb the first three hills.

“I say to people to get out there and support the cause. Pudsey needs your help. Give what you can to help Children in Need.”

Steve added: “It was great to be asked to join in the challenge even just for one morning and that was hard enough.

“Graham and Gilly are doing a fantastic job.

“It’s such a good cause and I urge everyone to give whatever they can.”
