AN IT solutions business is planning a jobs boost after securing a loan to support further growth.

Holker IT, based in Phoenix Way, Burnley, intends to take on 10 employees over the next two or three years. It now has 16 staff.

The firm is thinking big after landing a £125,000 loan from Lancashire Rosebud Finance, a development fund.

Holker, which provides IT support services, telecoms systems and printers to clients throughout the North West, moved to Burnley recently after finding larger premises. It has expanded steadily since it was established eight years ago in Colne.

It is now on target to increase turnover by 20 per cent in the current year and expects to achieve similar growth in the following years.

The company, which also has a satellite office in Preston, is led by directors Matthew Metcalfe and James Dewhurst.

Mr Metcalfe, also the managing director, said: "This isn't the first time we have received support from Rosebud Fiance and once again we are grateful for the belief in us and what we are trying to achieve.

"We have earned a reputation as a cybersecurity specialist in the region and that's an area we are particularly focused on."

Lancashire Rosebud Finance, which provides growth funding for businesses in the county, is managed by Mercia Fund Managers on behalf of Lancashire County Developments Limited, the county council’s economic development company.

Peter Rooney, investment manager at Mercia Fund Managers, said: "The company has a reputation for its fast and responsive service and is continually investing in staff and skills.

"The directors are continuing to expand their services in cybersecurity and business technology consultancy. This funding will allow them to build the team and pursue their growth strategy.”

Cllr Michael Green, cabinet member for economic development, environment and planning at the county council, said: "It is pleasing to see another Lancashire firm performing well.

"They are investing in their staff in terms of training and are looking to grow the business by expanding their service offer."
