THE Buddhist Group of Kendal (Theravada) held a meditation retreat led by Venerable Mahalova Ariyadhamma, who lives in a cave in a jungle in Sri Lanka.
The gathering also celebrated the 15th and 20th anniversaries of several group members taking their Buddhist precepts, or rules of training.
As group secretary Jacquetta Gomes explained, the five precepts (Panca Sila) are the minimum ethical requirements for lay practitioners in Theravada Buddhism.
