A MAN and a woman arrested following the death of an eight-day-old baby girl have been re-bailed, police have confirmed.

Detectives had been contacted by paramedics after Ava Grace Nolan was found unresponsive at a house in Dover Street, Nelson, at around 11.20am on August 16,

The baby was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital where she later died.

A post mortem examination revealed the baby had suffered a serious head injury. That led to detectives launching a murder investigation.

As a result of that a 26-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, who the Lancashire Telegraph understands are the baby’s parents, were arrested on suspicion of murder.

They were released on bail pending further investigation and that has now been extended to November 16.
