WORK colleagues are gearing up for the challenge of a lifetime as they take on a skydive.

Fifteen staff from acdc, a Barrowford-based lighting company, are set to conquer their fears to raise funds for Pendleside Hospice

They are to jump from 1,500 feet as part of a fundraising challenge for the Reedley-based hospice.

The team, which includes acdc’s chief executive Gareth Frankland, three other board members along with managers, factory and office staff, will head to Skydive Northwest near Grange-over-Sands on September 16.

Mr Frankland wanted to take on a challenge to conquer his fear of heights and decided it would be an ideal fundraising opportunity as part of their corporate challenge efforts.

The corporate challenge sees local businesses from Burnley and Pendle go head-to-head to battle it out to raise the most money for the hospice.

Mr Frankland said: ‘This has been on my ‘bucket list’ and is a major challenge for me. It just seemed like an opportunity not to be missed.’

The team is hoping to raise £1,000 from the skydive.
