JACK Cork is targeting a first home win of the season, after making an unbeaten start on the road.

Burnley have picked up four points from two trips to the capital - beating Chelsea on the opening day and then recovering from 1-0 down to earn a draw against Spurs at Wembley on Sunday.

In addition, they knocked bitter rivals Blackburn Rovers out of the Carabao Cup with a 2-0 win at Ewood Park.

The results have been in stark contrast to last season’s challenges away from home, when their first and ultimately only away win was celebrated in late April at Crystal Palace.

In the meantime Turf Moor was their fortress, and of their overall 40-point haul, which proved enough to secure Premier League survival, 32 of them were earned at home.

But despite a 1-0 loss to West Brom in their first Turf outing of 2017/18, Cork is confident the Clarets can rekindle those home comforts after the international break, when they entertain Palace on Sunday, September 10.

“We’ve got Palace at home next and it would be great to get a result.

“It would be good to get that first home win of the season and go from there and start making a bit of a gap between us and teams. That would be great for us,” said the midfielder, who felt the level of performance was not rewarded against West Brom.

“The West Brom game was probably the best we’ve played out of all the four games we’ve had this season and we didn’t get the points.

“We didn’t have as much of the ball against Tottenham or Chelsea but we managed to get good results in those so it works both ways really.

“It was disappointing against West Brom but we did play well and we’ve got some good points before the international break.

“It’s a good start.

“We maybe could have done with keeping on going.

“We were in a good bit of rhythm, it would have been nice to carry on and keep going.

“But it’s the international break and it gives us time to reflect and have a rest.

“Last week was a difficult week with three games.”
