FIRE bosses have launched an immediate review of high-rise accommodation fire safety measures after the horrific blaze at Grenfell Tower in west London.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said there are 73 premises in Lancashire, residential and non-residential, listed as high rise.

Of these 66 are residential.

In East Lancashire there are 25 high-rise buildings which range from residential buildings to a council building, police station and hospital.

These are Shaw Export Services, St James Chambers Accrington, The Globe Centre and Waterside in Hyndburn, and India Mill in Darwen.

While in Blackburn, high-rise buildings include Blackburn Hospital, Bowland House, BwD Council Offices, FD Sims Blackburn, New Town Hall, St Albans Court, St Michaels Court, Telephone House, Thwaites Brewery Tower and Trinity Court.

In Burnley, buildings include Crown Hotel Burnley, Sandy Lane Hotel and St Peters Centre.

Elsewhere, there is the Irwell Health Centre in Bacup, ILEX Mill in Rawtenstall, E A Foulds in Colne, Chorley Police Station and Charnock House, Talbot House and Trigge House in Chorley.

All buildings have had a fire safety audit between 2010 and 2017, but the fire service said reviews are taking place regardless of how recently they were last audited.

Seventeen people are known to have died and more than 70 people are believed to be unaccounted for after flames tore up the 24-storey residential tower block in north Kensington during the early hours of Wednesday.
