A THIEF who stole steak and washing liquid during an eight-day shoplifting spree has been jailed for eight weeks.
Blackburn magistrates heard how John Martin Leonard, 33, of Cleveland Street, Colne, stole £35 of steak from the Co-op in Colne on April 4, before stealing £60 of washing liquid from the same store two days later.

He returned to the store twice on April 8 to steal £40 of meat and £60 of washing liquid, the court heard.
On April 12 Leonard went back to the store on three occasions to steal £100 of razors, £37 of meat and £35 of cleaning fluid.
Leonard, who magistrates described as a “prolific shoplifter”, pleaded guilty to seven counts of theft. He must pay a £115 surcharge.
