A WARNING has been issued to farmers and landowners over a potential storage scam.
PC Nigel Keates has warned people to be on guard after a Lincolnshire farmer faced a clean-up bill for 250 tonnes of waste after being scammed by a waste criminal.
PC Keates said: “Landowners are being asked to store bales straw, plastic recycling or indeed almost anything that can be baled.
“The landowner is then left with tons of waste, the person/s then scarper leaving controlled waste which can cost tens of thousands of pounds to dispose of.
“It is not here yet but it will be.
“There is too much money to be made by the criminals who make an offer too good to refuse.
“Don’t be got by greed or misplaced trust.”
