A PROJECT to link Great Harwood and Padiham with a country pathway has been given a boost.
The Martholme Greenway group has received planning permission for the work between Simonstone Lane and Gooseleach Wood, Burnley.
This will require the creation of an access point at Simonstone Lane and the replacement of the two missing cattle creep bridges along this section.
The bridges are in the final stages of manufacture and have been built by two final year engineering degree students at the University Centre at Blackburn College
Chairman of the group John Barker said: “It’s for quite a big bit of the project, its about 900 metres in total, it’s good news.”
The group’s aim is to link the Martholme project with the Padiham Greenway via Simonstone.
