Mr Taylor, who runs Time Train Collectibles antiques shop in the town, said he was returning home along the A59 at around 6pm on Thursday, February 16, when he said the incident happened.

He said: “I was heading to Clitheroe doing 60mph, all of a sudden a silver Mercedes came up behind me headlights flashing.

“He then overtook no less than six cars into head-on traffic, “He just got through with traffic parting either side.

“I’ve had years of driving and it’s by far the most reckless act I’ve ever seen.”

Mr Taylor followed the car into the nearby McDonalds restaurant just off the roundabout near Barrow and filmed the confrontation with the driver.

At first the man in the clip claimed the cars he overtook were parked before denying it was him.

Mr Taylor said: “I’m a bit embarrassed about how much attention the clip has got.

“I uploaded it for zero self-gratification.

“It was purely to highlight a shocking and near fatal manoeuvre made by a dangerous driver.”

A police spokesman said that they had received a report of the incident and inquiries were continuing.
