BURNLEY fire crews were called to help efforts in South Yorkshire as torrential rainfall caused flooding.
The fire station in Belvedere Road is the only one in Lancashire with a pump which can take very large volumes of water away from a site.
They were called out yesterday to pump water from a reservoir in Rotherham to ease pressure on a dam which was cracking.
Crew manager Dave Robinson said: "This is the first time it has gone out of the county."
