MISSING mum Alison Houghton has returned home in time for her son's 12th birthday.
Sam Houghton, who was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer at Christmas, pleaded for his mother to come back through the pages of the Lancashire Telegraph today after police launched a search.
Alison, 42, had left their home in Orchard Street on Friday after growing increasingly distressed by mounting debts and her son's illness, her family had said.
Husband Graeme, 43, said Alison had been to Bradford and Hull before finally asking if she could come home.
He said: "This is the best present Sam could have. Alison is feeling a bit overwhelmed at the moment but we are just so glad she is back with us."
