A MAN has been convicted of blinding a Darwen woman in one eye with his "two inch long" thumbnail.
Derek Bowes denied attacking his girlfriend Sharon Yates in a hotel room at Fleetwood and insisted during his trial that he was not responsible for the injury.
But Bowes, 41, of Spinney Close, Clock Face, St Helens, was found guilty of inflicting grievous bodily harm by the jury at Preston Crown Court.
The prosecution alleged that Bowes' thumb nail was two inches long and the eyeball was ruptured.
It happened in September 2003 at Fleetwood's New Boston Hotel . Bowes will be sentenced on July 24.
