A MAN suffered serious injuries in an attack by a group of six teenagers, including a girl.

The attack took place between 3pm and 3.30pm on Friday on the railway bridge Bawdlands, Clitheroe, just behind Kwik Save.

Police said the 29-year-old victim was walking home when he was set upon.

They said the attack was violent and resulted in the victim being pushed into the path of an oncoming car, which braked hard to avoid a collision.

The car was driven by a woman who stopped and shouted at the attackers before driving off. Clitheroe CID officers said the victim flagged down a passing motorist in a red car who drove him home.

They are now looking to trace both of these witnesses.

The victim was admitted to hospital where he is still being treated for his injuries.

Anyone with information should contact DC William Biggar or the CID at Clitheroe police station on 01200 458741.
