Cunliffe, of Dowry Street, Accrington, pleaded guilty to causing damage to a Land Rover Freelander belonging to Joseph Fennell.

She was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £200 compensation, £85 costs and £20 victim surcharge.

She was also made subject to a restraining order prohibiting any contact with the aggrieved for three months.

Enza Geldard, prosecuting, said Mr Fennell was woken at 12.25am by loud banging on his front door.

He could see on the CCTV monitor at his bedside that it was Cunliffe.

When he looked out of the window he could see her kicking his car and scratching it with a key, the court heard.

“It was all captured on CCTV which she knew was there,” said Mrs Geldard.

“At one point she looked at the camera and said something.”

Mrs Geldard said the total cost of repairs was £4,058 and Mr Fennell had to pay £120 excess on his insurance.

Jonathan Taylor, defending, said the couple had been in a relationship for many years.

“She actually caught him with her sister and later found out about the relationship with his neighbour,” said Mr Taylor.

“She went round to get some kind of explanation and when he wouldn’t answer the door she vented her frustration on his car.”

Mr Taylor said his client knew she was on CCTV because her partner had it all over the house, inside and out.

Mr Taylor said: “She was betrayed by someone she trusted while they were involved in a loving and trusting relationship.”
