A MAN was stabbed in the back in Oswaldtwistle, police said.

The 21-year-old victim was stabbed once in Walter Street on Saturday at around 11pm.

Officers said the attack happened after the victim was seen arguing with another man, thought to be known locally as Mickey or Micky.

The victim, who suffered a punctured lung was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

The attacker, who ran from the scene, was described as white with facial hair. He was also wearing a grey tracksuit, police said.

Det Sgt Melissa Kelly urged anyone with information to contact police.

She said: “We are working to identify the man responsible for this and we need anyone with information that could help us to come forward.

“The victim remains in Blackpool Victoria Hospital at this time in a stable condition having suffered a puncture wound to his lung."
