A MAN who was found dead in bed at a flat in Accrington has been named by police.

Detectives launched a murder investigation following the discovery of 65-year-old Mohammed Yousaf in the bedroom of a property in Granville Road at 8.45am on Wednesday.

He was found with serious head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 44-year-old man from Accrington has been arrested on suspicion of murder is being quizzed by detectives today.

Detectives are now appealing for any CCTV footage which was recording in the area around Granville Road between Saturday afternoon and Wednesday morning.

Det Supt Paul Withers, who is leading the investigation, said: 

“Our investigation into Mr Yousaf’s death is on-going and we are still appealing to anyone who has any information to contact us.

“Similarly, if you do have any CCTV footage from the Granville Road area and have not yet spoken to us, I would urge you to get in touch. Any information that you can provide could greatly assist our on-going inquiry.”

An alleyway between Granville Road and Harcourt Road, off Manchester Road, was taped off throughout yesterday.

There was also marked and unmarked police car at the scene.
