Mr Logan, 73, said his inspiration for the novel came in response to modern society’s failure to recognise what actual love is.

Mr Logan, a former journalist at the Lancashire Telegraph, said: “Actual love is in short supply today. Families are breaking down, marriages are becoming old fashioned and we are falling apart as a society because we don’t really know what love is.

“It’s a novel and it’s written for everyone but it goes back in to ancient times through a scroll that is found in the dead sea area. This reveals a love that the modern world has lost.”

The novel is set around two central character Dave and his wife Colette whose marriage is in total disaster with one dreaming of killing the other. They find the ancient scroll and must use it to save their marriage.

Mr Logan said: “This is my tenth book and is the fruit of studying the great romance at the heart of the universe since his first paperback forty years ago.

“I came to know love through two great women. My first wife of 35 years, Linda, died of cancer in 2004. Ten years ago I married Ann, who had also lost a partner to cancer.

“Our shared family of four children, ten grandchildren and one great grandchild brings invaluable lessons in love.

“My working life has also been an education in love. As a journalist, I hunted headlines for a daily newspaper before discovering the greatest scoop ever reported.

“At age 28, I quit sub-editing to train for the priesthood and dedicate the rest of his life to retelling God’s good news story in as many inventive ways as possible.”

Mr Logan was a Church of England minister in the Blackburn Diocese for 35 years, serving as vicar at Christ Church Accrington and St John’s Great Harwood, and also curate at Church of the Saviour, Blackburn, and St John’s in Leyland.

He retired eight years ago from full-time ministry but still helps out in many churches across the diocese.

Absolute Love will be launched at at a special lunch attended by the mayor and mayoress of Hyndburn from 1pm on Sunday at The Hope Centre and Church in Watson Street.

There will then be an international launch at the Frankfurt Book Festival on October.

The novel is published by lulu and is priced at £13.95.
