THE first images of the soon-to-be-reopened spa at Pendle Wavelengths have been unveiled.

Inside Spa was forced to close last year after a devastating fire ripped through the Nelson leisure centre.

The centre, which is run by Pendle Leisure Trust, currently undergoing a £500,000 transformation and is on track to reopen in October.

Spa design and installation specialists, Helo, has been commissioned to create the new thermal suite and computer generated images have now been revealed to show how the spa will look..

Alison Goode, chief executive of Pendle Leisure Trust, said: “I am delighted that work is now progressing well on the reinstatement of Inside Spa.

“The fire was a massive setback to the trust but now this new state-of-the-art facility will be completed at the beginning of October and I can guarantee customers will not be disappointed with the refurbishment.

“Our team is delighted with the new contemporary design which certainly rivals any private sector spa.

“It will be a tremendously enjoyable experience and will once again be affordable for everyone.

“We cannot wait for the completion and to welcome back old and new customers alike.”

Despite the disruption of the fire and subsequent construction work to the new wellness spa suite, Inside Spa’s beauty treatment facility has remained open.

Manager Beverley Hinnigan said: “We all work really hard to ensure our customers have an enjoyable, relaxing experience when they visit Inside Spa.

“Of course we were all upset and shocked by the fire, but our team has pulled together and we are looking forward to the opening of the wellness suite.

“It will mark a real turning point for the business and means our clients can enjoy all the benefits of a first class spa experience.”

Recent improvements also include the creation of a double treatment room where couples and friends can enjoy experiencing treatments at the same time.

The wellness suite will feature a central vitality spa with relaxing air loungers, plus neck, back, and feet massage stations at a therapeutic temperature of 37c.

The four large thermal rooms feature an herbal bath, vitality sauna, salt inhalation room and aroma steam.

Leader of Pendle Council, Cllr Mohammed Iqbal, said: “It’s great news for Pendle that work on Inside Spa is nearing completion.

“It’s unique and we’ve been proud to invest in the UK’s first public sector spa and support Pendle Leisure Trust’s efforts in modernising it following the fire.”
