EAST Lancashire residents can look forward a wide range of events this weekend.

Tomorrow, Moofest 2016 will be held at Wellybobs Farm in Darwen, bringing the best of local entertainment in the forms of many up and coming acts and established bands.

There will be two stages of music at the family-friendly festival featuring more than 35 acts, including Mark Morriss (The Bluetones), Hot Vestry, The Wagon Wheels, Rime Suspex, Fear The Fallen, RedEyed Jedi and many more.

Also on the cards for folk with an appetite is the Darwen Food Fest, and lovers of dancing can enjoy a dance showcase from talented youngsters at Elevate Dance and Fitness at Accrington Academy on Saturday.

Laura Melling, dance teacher, said: “It’s something I have always been after doing because I would love to bring more children into dancing and make dancing on the whole a lot more affordable for their parents.

“We are going to have a good showcase so please come and join us.”

From 2.30pm to 5pm in Stanhill, residents are invited to witness the opening ceremony for the new heritage trail at the Methodist chapel on Nab Lane.

Youngsters’ football team Rosegrove FC is also holding a fun day on the Habergham Playing Fields in Burnley, and an interactive Musical Chairs exhibition at Towneley Hall is fit for all members of the family, and unlike any game they may have played before.

Eid is upon us and the Blackburn Mall is marking the celebrations in a special way with a day full of events and store discounts to boot.

Celebrations will also be held in Blackburn’s Witton Park as it hosts a range of activities, including funfair rides, archery, crazy golf, donkey rides, clothing stalls and ice cream vans from noon to 8pm on both Saturday and Sunday.

Burnley’s Whittlefield Primary School will host its own summer fair on Sunday between noon and 3pm, while Coronation Street star Sam Aston will be part of the fun at the Crawshawbooth fun fair at Indian Harvest on Sunday.

For those who will be outdoors, be advised the Met Office has forecasted a wet and rainy day tomorrow (Sat) from 7am right through to 10pm with highest temperatures of 19 degrees Celsius.

A spokesman said: “The weather has brief spells of sunshine on Sunday but for the vast majority of the day rain is expected with a highest temperature of 17 degrees Celsius.”
