A PERSON suffered from smoke inhalation after a house fire last night.
Firefighters administered first aid to the resident after the fire in the basement of a Brierfield home.
Two fire engines from Nelson attended the incident soon after 9pm.

The resident from the property in Colne Road had alerted crews with a 999 call and firefighters tackled the blaze for around 30 minutes.
A spokesman for the fire service said: “There was radiant heat and smoke damage.
“The fire would have damaged the contents of the basement.
“Firefighters used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel and one ventilation unit to extinguish the fire.
“The cause is not yet known.”
