ANDRE Gray said dropping two points to Wolves felt like a defeat.

But the striker is determined not to let it deal a blow to Burnley’s title ambitions.

A stoppage time equaliser for the mid-table Midlands club narrowed the gap between the Clarets and second placed Brighton, who they play next.

But Gray believes they still have enough of an advantage, and enough quality in the squad, to maintain their position at the top, despite Saturday’s point putting greater emphasis on their next game against the Seagulls.

The Championship’s top scorer feels that Saturday’s results makes that meeting between first and second Burnley’s biggest game of the season, but said: “It’s not going to be the be all and end all there either.

“It would be good to get the win and get something there. We’ve just got to get on with it.

“If we win that it sets us apart from them by quite a big gap. But even after that there are still seven games and a lot of things can change between now and then.

“We’re ahead at the minute and we need to stay there.

“There are going to be twists and turns to the end I think, so it’s going to be difficult but we’ve got more than enough in the dressing room to do it.”

Gray expects to come back from the two-week international break with renewed vigour.

But the initial disappointment was hard to overcome.

“They’ve come here with nothing to lose,” he said of Wolves. “They don’t want to get battered so it’s always going to be difficult.

“I thought they played well and were dominant for certain periods.

“We could have played better but that’s how it is sometimes.

“Everyone’s gutted. It feels like a bit of a loss.

“I suppose we’ve got to look at the positives - we’ve won six on the bounce and drawn one.

“If anyone had offered us that at the start of the run we’d have taken it.

“We keep saying there’s a long way to go.

“We’ll dust ourselves down now and come back after the break flying again.”
