AN East Lancashire schoolgirl had her video question for astronaut Tim Peake chosen from thousands of others worldwide for a live space link-up.

Oakhill College pupil Imogen Campbell, 14, winning question to Tim was "Has being in space changed your outlook on life?"

At the beginning of this term schools were invited to send a question by video to British ESA astronaut Tim Peake.

The Year 10 pupil's video was chosen as one of the videos to be shown and for him to answer as part of the Cosmic Classroom event.

More than 7,000 videos were submitted and only 20 questions were chosen to be put to Tim.

Almost 300 schoolchildren joined TES, UKSA and ESA at the World Museum in Liverpool for a live question and answer session with Tim from the International Space Station.

Students from the Whalley school gathered in the hall to watch the live link up and to hear Tim answer Imogen's question.

Sadly there was only a short communication window to chat to Tim and the schoolgirl failed to get her question answered.

She is now hoping that her video question may be answered at a future Cosmic Classroom event.

Other questions that were asked included, 'what can you see out of the window?' and 'does your heart beat faster in space?'.

Imogen, said: "I'm a little bit disappointed that they didn't pick my question but hopefully at some point in the future date they will be able to answer my question."

Mum Andrea said: "We were really excited for her and quite proud of the question she asked."

Physics teacher, Kate Rollason, who coordinated the project, said she hoped it would inspire female students to study physics.

She said: "Imogen is a very proactive member of the class.

"I was surprised that her question was chosen because over 7,000 questions were asked.

"We are excited that a question was chosen from our school.

"We have followed Tim Peake on Twitter and are hoping to take part in the Rocket Seeds experiment in April.

"It's a shame Imogen's video wasn't shown but we are grateful for the opportunity to do it.

"They were all really engaged in it and hopefully the question might get asked at the next Cosmic Classroom."
