A PROJECT has been unveiled by a Rossendale dance academy to provide new mirrors and ballet barres for the dozens of youngsters who come through their doors from across the valley.
Dansworks, based in the old Pioneer Buildings in Bacup, have drawn up the improvements wishlist and applied for grants from a number of Lancashire county councillors.
Coach Julie Morris said: "Mirrors are essential for effective dance practice so the dancers can see themselves, and each other when rehearsing as a group. Ballet barres are required for safe practice for many dance exercises.
"This will benefit children who want to improve their dancing and gives them the opportunity to spend their spare time doing something positive, keeping them off the streets and away from indoor games consoles."
The latest county councillor to approve a grant, at a reduced rate of £300, is Anne Cheetham, who represents the Rossendale South division.
The mirrors would cost £1,250 and the barres £250.
