STORMTROOPERS from a galaxy far, far away helped raise money for a young girl with cerebral palsy.

A Star Wars photo session took place to raise money for four-year-old Neave Evans, who needs funding for ground floor accommodation and other specialist equipment to help with her day-to-day life.

Hundreds of Tesco customers at Great Harwood donated and had their photographs taken with Stormtroopers from the 99th Garrison, a group of volunteers in the North West who dress up as the Star Wars characters and help collect funds for charity.

Neave dressed up as Princess Leia and her younger sister, Frankie, one, dressed up as robot R2-D2.

The girl’s dad, Jan, 40, who previously raised £4,000 for The Legacy Rainbow House in Mawdsley by skydiving, said Neave was a big Star Wars fan and the day was a success.

He said: “When Neave was very little and couldn’t sleep, I used to put Star Wars on and she would watch it with me and it would help her fall asleep.

“She loves it, she loved seeing the stormtroopers and getting to dress up.”

In total, £1,381 was raised for the Neave Fund.
